Term 4, Week 2, 22 October 2009
COME O LORD
Dear Maranatha Christian School Community Members,
Welcome back to the final term of the year!
Most of us attended the NZACS conference during the break. We mixed with
over 200 likeminded people, representing at least 50 Christian schools
/colleges from throughout New Zealand.
We enjoyed listening to national and international keynote speakers and
workshop presenters.
One presenter in particular spoke about worldviews. His evidence showed
that many Christians actually have a split
worldview, rather than a Christian or Biblical worldview. For example,
there is a split between the spiritual and the
physical, or natural, worlds, and between private and public life.
However, worldviews can be changed in community. This includes parents
and teachers setting Godly examples that the children / students want to
follow. It is great to see evidence of this happening here at Maranatha.
During the break I also attended the World Vision Intermediate
Scholarship Award ceremony. This came at the end of a week of activities
that our ‘scholar’ Josiah participated in. A number of World Vision
staff commented to me on how well Josiah had
represented our school during the week.
Wishing you God’s blessings, strength and wisdom through the term ahead,
Debbie Middleton

all students must wear their jerseys on photo day, 28 October. Uniform

Our annual school photo’s will be taken on 28 October. The photograph
order envelope was sent home earlier this week. Please return your order
with the correct amount of money enclosed in the envelope to the office.
Notice of leaving
If a student is not returning to Maranatha in 2010, the last day for
receiving your written notice will be Tuesday 27 October. This is
required, otherwise attendance dues for term 1 are charged.
Walking Bus
We would like to start a walking bus for 2010. This is an excellent idea
as it is a healthy alternative and will alleviate the parking problem at
school. If you are interested in helping with this, please contact Corry
at the school office.
EAT SO THEY CAN
Thank you to all who supported our “Eat So They Can” fundraiser on
Friday. In total we raised $250 which will go towards food and
educational needs of children living in Africa. The two reps from Global
Volunteer Network were particularly touched by the prayers our children
shared. Some Room 1 children also attended another
“Eat So They Can” event on Saturday where they shared two dances. They
danced well and a number of people at the event commented on their
lovely behaviour throughout the afternoon. A credit to their families
and also a great representation for our school. Well done!
PTA Notices
A big thank you to our wonderful PTA who raised $150 with the books and
gifts fundraiser and $680 from the Calendars fundraiser.
They also donated $5 000 for the bush track development, from money
raised from selling chocolates and the explosion auction in 2008.
The school was also able to purchase Tuff-Cams with money donated from
the PTA.
Unfortunately the PTA will not be able to hold a PTA explosion this
year, due to
insufficient numbers to host this event. We certainly hope to have more
assistance next year.
Congratulations
Danielle has achieved highly in Level 6 Artistic Gymnastics with an
overall gold win, 2 silvers and a bronze medal. She also represented the
Wellington Province at the NZ National Gymsports Championships in
Hamilton. Her team of four came 2nd in the Teams Event, with a silver
medal. We are very proud of you Danielle!
Trophies
In preparation for Prize Giving 2009, we request that all cups and
trophies be returned to the school office as soon as possible. Please
ensure that the trophies are in the same good state of repair as they
were when handed out.
